History

In the 2004/2005 season, The Company of Music, Theatre and Dance presented a phenomenal Christmas Spectacular at The Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan.

The students began the New Year aggressively, by participating in a New York City pre-professional workshop presented by Ballet Master, Mr. David Howard. At this workshop, the students were exposed to classical ballet training of the highest caliber and had the opportunity to partner with professional male dancers from American Ballet Theatre.

Fifty students based to NYC for an intensive workshop presented by The Royal Ballet School at the new Alvin Ailey Center. Another thirty-eight attended The American Academy of Ballet's "Dance Is Fun" workshop, also in NYC.

At our Jackson, NJ, location, students welcomed guest alumni and faculty members Mr. Donatella Accardi, from the renowned School of American Ballet in NYC, to teach the Balanchine technique. This workshop was accompanied by pianist Mr. Steven Mitchell of NYC, a composer of numerous CDs specifically designed for ballet classes.

This spring, students will embark to Atlantic City to participate in a National Competition. MTD will present their Annual Performance at the Historic Strand Theatre in Lakewood.

A mark of a successful school: This year students have been accepted to the following nationally-recognized pre-professional summer intensive training schools:

  • School of American Ballet (New York, NY)
  • Princeton Ballet School (Princeton, NJ)
  • Walnut Hill School (CT)
  • Rock School (Philadelphia, PA)
  • American Academy of Ballet (Purchase, NY)

In an effort to continually promote excellence in their field, the faculty recently completed a professional teachers workshop, presented by Ballet Master Mr. Davis Howard in NYC.
